5 Reasons to Celebrate Our Agency and Our Team

Wilks Communications Group Awards

Taking time to celebrate successes — both small and large — is more important than ever during this unprecedented period. At Wilks Communications Group, that means investing extra effort to showcase examples of our exemplary client work through awards submissions.

Professional recognition by a consortium of industry peers not only elevates awareness of our high caliber client work, but also creates an opportunity for team members to feel acknowledged within our own agency for their efforts. After months of social distancing and prolonged periods of working from home, being called out publicly for winning an award feels incredibly validating.

In July, our team participated in Chicago’s Public Relations Society of America’s 2020 Skyline Awards. This event highlights PR creativity and innovation while showcasing the impact of specific campaigns. It was a great honor to have two submissions be selected for Awards of Excellence:

• Product Brand Development for the Nielsen-Massey Vanillas “Better Your Bake” campaign
• Best Earned Media Relations for the Detroit Tigers and Lions official beverage partnership announcements for Coppercraft Distillery

In September, our team also brought home four awards from the 61st annual Publicity Club of Chicago Golden Trumpet Awards. The Golden Trumpet Award ceremony is a distinguished event that honors outstanding public relations and communications achievements.

Two programs receiving top honors include:

  • The Golden Trumpet Award in Media Relations – “Elevating Awareness of the Plight of Syrian Refugees in a War Zone”

The goal of this campaign was to shine a spotlight on Partners Relief & Development, a global NGO, as they worked in Syria in the fall of 2019 to aid displaced refugees. Initiating a comprehensive media relations strategy aimed at securing interest from influential media contacts, the WCG nonprofit team secured 126 total earned media placements, including CNN and FOX News, totaling an audience of 469.9 million.

  • The Golden Trumpet Award in Marketing – Food & Beverage for Nielsen-Massey Vanillas “Better Your Bake” campaign

To help drive Nielsen-Massey Vanilla sales and increase brand awareness, our team at WCG leveraged paid, earned, and owned marketing channels to achieve significant consumer engagement. In total, this campaign reach 161.7 million viewers and exceeded our coupon redemption goal by 374 percent.

We were also gratified to learn that Wilks Communications Group has been selected as a finalist for the Ragan and PR Daily’s 2020 Media Relations Awards in the Purpose-Driven Campaign category for our work on World Vision’s 2019 Holiday gift catalog. This ceremony recognizes the top distinguished media relations campaigns and the PR professionals across the country.

We are so proud of our team at Wilks Communications Group and their work on behalf of clients. Having one of our best awards seasons in the firm’s history is also a testament to the quality of our team and their ability to pull off amazing client results despite all the distractions 2020 has provided.
